ISTF Project #16-3227 was developed in response to the 2016-2017 Internet Science and Technology Fair.
Project by the WheelerNanoNEXT Club at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia.
NCT Category: Manufacturing - Surface Treatments
Problem: Indium Tin Oxide and Fluorine Tin Oxide are commonly used as transparent conducting films for touch screens in electronic devices and solar cells. However, these materials are costly and fragile due to indium being a scarce commodity and ITO having limited flexibility.
Solution: Graphene would be the ideal material as it is cheap, transparent and highly conductive. It is highly flexible but easy to tear. Graphene would solve the problem of Indium being a rare commodity and cheapen the price of electronic devices. In addition, a flexible screen is also a possible technology.
